SUMMER MAKEUP LOOK

Black went matchy-matchy when playing around with Lancôme's summer fare. Using the same fresh strawberry shade on lips and cheeks, she added a touch of pale shell-colored shimmer around the eyes to make them appear bigger and brighter. "This is the type of makeup that would be perfect with a Lisa Perry dress," she says. To keep things on the sexier side, Black recommends applying the blush along the actual cheekbones rather than on the apples. "That way it doesn't look so cutesy."Black looked to photographer Guy Bourdin—and Chanel's summer launches—to create this decadent beauty look. "The combination of vibrant purple eye shadow, lacquered red lips, bronzed cheeks, and brushed-up brows gives you a modern take on 1970s glamour," she says. The fiery lip color is the secret to the bold pairing. "Warm reds work best with purple eye shadow," say Black. "Blue-based reds can make your skin look sallow when worn with purplish hues."Healthy, bronzed skin; thick brows; lots of feathery lashes; and a hot-pink lipstick from Guerlain's summer collection made up this "youthful, no-fuss summer party look," says Black, who was inspired by the model when creating the look. "She reminded me so much of Margaux and Mariel Hemingway." With such an electric lip color, Black recommends blotting your mascara wand on a tissue before applying for more natural effect.
